Klaas Schaafsma

Okamoto was de patriarch van de meest productieve familie van moderne Kokeshi-poppenproductie. 
Hij begon in 1950 als één van de eerste kunstenaars met het maken van Sosaku-poppen. 

Zijn vroege poppen wonnen vele prijzen, waaronder de Prime Mininster's Award. Deze waren grotendeels met de hand gesneden/geschilderd op de draaibank. Hiervan zijn er maar weinig van bewaard gebleven. 

In zijn latere jaren begon hij echter met de het maken van een pop in souvenirstijl (Kindai). Hij richtte een museum op in Gunma, dat nu wordt onderhouden door zijn zonen en dochters. 

Deze Kokeshi is voorzien van mooie gedetailleerde pruimenbloesems, het hout heeft een mooie donkere kleur. Voorzien van handtekening op de achterkant en sticker met hanko stempel op de bodem. De originele doos en het naambordje zijn uiteraard inbegrepen.

De pop is 30 cm hoog.
