Description Adoration of the Magi, after Veronese, with the Virgin sitting on the right, Christ child in her lap, St Joseph standing behind and lifting a veil covering His head; on the Magi kneels before Christ with his hands clasped, the other two approach from the left with their servants. c.1729/42 Series: Recueil d'estampes d'après les plus beaux tableaux et d'après les plus beaux desseins qui sont en France Curator's comments After a painting (oil on copper) executed by Veronese and now in the Hermitage Museum, St Petersburg. Curator's comments Part of 'Recueil d'estampes d'après les plus beaux tableaux et d'après les plus beaux desseins qui sont en France' (also known as 'Recueil Crozat'), a series of plates commissioned by Crozat and reproducing famous paintings and drawings of the era; 140 plates were published in 1729. A second volume formed by 42 prints (instead of the 110 plates initially planned) was issued in 1740.
