This portrait seamlessly extends the narrative of my ongoing series. Building upon a prior study featuring an elderly man in black and white attire, this iteration takes center stage, presenting the subject in vivid color against a striking black backdrop, amplifying its impact and presence. Reflecting on a year immersed in various artistic influences, this particular piece evokes echoes of Vincent van Gogh's portraiture, capturing a similar expressiveness akin to his works, particularly those of the postman, Roulin. The deliberate choice of a larger-than-life portrayal further enhances the piece's emotional depth without overstating its significance. The painting is oil on canvas mounted on a wooden stretcher. It comes shipped very carefully in a box directly from Mihai Cotiga’s studio. The painting is hand signed on the back and it will come with a certificate of authenticity. Mihai Cotiga is a painter based in Bucharest, Romania, whose works have been exhibited nationally and internationally. He uses his life events and thoughts to bring meaning into his work being driven by the curiosity to understand what is around us and the passion to always learn something new.
