Ottoman Empire Silver-metal Ring with Lapis Lazuli Intaglio with an Insect (No Reserve Price)
A very impressive Ottoman Empire silver-metal ring. It presents a raised bezel with a lapis lazuli intaglio showing an insect in flight, probably a bee. The intaglio decoration served as a stamp or a seal, illustrating a protective symbol or the heraldry of the owner. The raised bezel represents a rectangular shape and is richly decorated on all sides with twisted lines resembling foliage. The ring band is large, narrowing towards the back and is also decorated, featuring a raised trefoil on both sides and engraved decorations of foliage on the sides. Good solid condition, wearable. Signs of wear consistent with age and use.
Measurements: H 3cm
Inside diameter: 2.2cm
Closest UK ring size: S
Provenance: Purchased by the current owner in 2021. Prior English collection of Mr. A.H.D.
