The Sumo ukiyo-e prints had not been published for a long time since 1908. This work is a limited edition sumo ukiyo-e print that was finally published again in the 1980s after a long hiatus. Takamiyama Daigorō (高見山大五郎) Takamiyama Daigorō (b 1944) was a former sumo wrestler from Maui, Territory of Hawaii, USA, and belonged to the Takasago stable. In 1972, he won the first title as a foreign Sumo wrestler. His highest rank was Sekiwake. [Artist] Daimon Kinoshita (b 1946) is a renowned Japanese illustrator and ukiyo-e artist who has been active since the late Showa period. Self-taught in traditional ukiyo-e techniques, he has created a wide range of works, including sumo ukiyo-e prints. His artworks have been exhibited and presented to notable figures worldwide.
