Uriah Heep Uriah Heep is an English rock band formed in London in 1969. Uriah Heep belonged to the rock scene of the early 1970s and are considered pioneers of the hard rock, heavy metal and progressive rock genres. The band have sold over 40 million albums worldwide, with over four million in the US, where their best known songs include "Gypsy", "Easy Livin'", "The Wizard" and "Sweet Lorraine". , and "Stealin'". They also have a large following and perform in arena-sized venues in the Balkans, Germany, Japan, the Netherlands, Russia, Finland and Scandinavia. Uriah Heep has released 25 studio albums of original material, 20 live albums and 41 compilation albums (including two greatest hits albums). Thirteen of the band's studio albums made the UK Albums Chart (Return to Fantasy peaked at No. 7 in 1975), while of the fifteen Billboard 200 albums by Uriah Heep, Demons and Wizards was the most successful (No. 23 in 1972). . It was formed in 1971 under the influence of the band's first US tour, with Ken Hensley increasingly coming to the fore. The percussion in the title track comes from musicians from the group Osibisa. After the recordings, Paul Newton and Iain Clark left the band. The original 1971 LP, designed by Mick Box, is now a popular collector's item as the viewer of the album cover sees themselves distorted in a mirror-like foil, in keeping with the album title's (Look At Yourself) injunction.
