A year later he registered the brand Dalva, which results from the contraction “da Silva”. With a simple and very Portuguese sound, success was easy to achieve in different markets. Looking for an activity in which to invest the capital from his business in Brazil, the young entrepreneur takes advantage of the close collaboration with the company Corrêa Ribeiro e Filhos, founded in 1862, and owned by his wife's family, to build up his initial stocks and give the first steps in the business, with Vintage Ports from 1896, 1912 or 1920 being famous. Combining centuries-old knowledge and techniques with new technologies and innovation, Dalva's portfolio is unique and distinct, presenting an unparalleled offer of Colheita Port Wines, which include unique and limited editions, the classic Vintage Port Wines, and a range exclusive range of White Port Wines, culminating in the aged and dated Golden White and Dry White collection. WINEMAKER: José Manuel Sousa Soares. AWARDS/RECOMMENDATIONS Silver Medal, International Wine Challenge (2003 Vintage) WINE VARIETIES: Traditional red grape varieties from the Douro Demarcated Region, such as Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca & Sousão. VINIFICATION Produced only in the best years, from the best wineries, Vintages are the quintessence of Port Wine, with great aging potential. 1997 C. da Silva, Dalva Vintage Port 1 x 0.75L TASTING NOTES Rich in color. Aromas of ripe fruits. Exceptional body and silky tannin structure, which leads to a long, exuberant flavor. 2003 C. da Silva, Dalva Vintage Port 1 x 0.75L TASTING NOTES Despite its age, this Vintage remains fresh on the nose and palate. The surrounding aromas of dried fruits (walnuts and raisins) stand out, with a balsamic, slightly resinous, pine touch. Sweetness balanced by firm tannins, long and persistent finish. SERVING Can be enjoyed alone, alongside chocolate-based desserts or intense cheeses. Place in an upright position 24 hours before serving to avoid deposits. Serve at a temperature between 16ºC and 18ºC. Consume in moderation.
