Bellissima incisione originale con ampi margini oltre la battuta, su carta vergellata con filigrana, in buono stato di conservazione, appena un po' ingiallita dal tempo e con leggere macchie lungo il margine, al di fuori dell'area di stampa (vedere foto).
Firmata "P. Breb. figur." in basso a destra, al di sotto dell'immagine  iscrizione francese con titolo e descrizione della scena in sette righe, dalle Metamorfosi di Ovidio. All'angolo destro numero "9" della serie.
Incisa da Cornelis Bloemaert e da Theodor Matham (per lo sfondo), da Pierre Brebiette; appartenente alla serie di 60 illustrazioni del "Tableau des Vertus et des Vices de l'antiquité", edito per la prima volta in forma completa solo nel 1655 a cura di Michelle de Marolles, anche se la maggior parte delle tavole furono realizzate prime del 1638, anno della morte di Jacques Favereau, primo committente dell'opera.
Scena mitologica con Cycnus trasformato in cigno nel fiume Eridano, personificato con testa di toro sulla sinistra, mentre si avvicina al corpo di Fetonte che giace sulla riva del fiume, sullo sfondo le tre Eliadi, sorelle di Fetonte, per il dolore trasformate da Zeus in pioppi che versano lacrime d'ambra.
