"Dans le flamboiement somptueux de son plumage le Phoenix, triomphant surgit des cendres. Cet oiseau fabuleux, d'une beauté saisissante, vivait plusieurs centaines d'années avant de se consumer dans un nid de branches parfumées de myrrhe et d'encens, pour mieux renaître. Les grecs associaient à son nom celui de l'arbre qui abrita la naissance d'Apollon, dieu de la Lumière. Il s'agit du dattier, symbolisant pour les anciens, fécondité et longévité. Les mythes ont le don merveilleux de nous faire voyager dans le temps et dans l'espace, et ce carré, qui s'en fait le messager, encercle l'oiseau de feuilles et de fruits de palmier dattier. "
