The Saab has been sitting unused in its first owner's garage for the past 42 years. The car is being sold as part of the estate of this gentleman, who used it until 1981 by which time he probably felt that it was getting too old. At one point, he reportedly went to a Saab dealer in Uppsala to buy a new Saab 99. Since the dealer would not trade it in or offered too low a price for the old Saab, the owner resolutely turned to a nearby Vauxhall dealer. The Saab could not be traded in. So, he purchased a new Opel Kadett, one from the first year with a front-wheel drive. The Opel is still at the estate, but is barely salvageable due to rust problems, while the Saab only has some minor rust issues.
