Juergen Teller - Zimmermann - 2009

Fantastic book by cult photographer Juergen Teller. Still with the original slipcase and still originally shrink-wrapped in publisher's plastic foil. Reminiscent of his earlier monograph More, Juergen Teller's new photographic series, Zimmermann, documents supermodel Raquel Zimmermann participating in family events and interacting with Teller's native environment in Bubenreuth, Southern Germany. Holding true to his signature snapshot aesthetic while nonetheless managing to construct what he describes as a "surreal fairy tale," the German-born photographer captures Zimmermann-in a state of seeming abandon, in the woods or lying semi-nude on the family table, as though a sacrificial offering as part of some Bavarian feast. A narrative akin in style to a gothic and dramatic Grimm's fairy tale, this story explores the themes of suppressed youth and teenage longing. Teller, one of the most influential fashion photographers working today, shoots in a deliberately overexposed style that endows this project with his characteristic raw look. IF YOU WIN MORE THAN 1 BOOK IN THIS AUCTION, YOU WILL PAY ONLY 1 X SHIPPING COSTS - WORLDWIDE. "I was or want to be very dependent on the personality of the model," said Juergen Teller in an interview for his 2002 book Märchenstüberl. In his new book, also a reminiscence of this earlier publication, he portrays the model Raquel Zimmermann and stages her in her Franconian parental home in Bubenreuth and the surrounding landscape. In his usual snapshot aesthetic, his pictures tell a surreal, morbid and German fairy tale, showing the lifeless girl lying in the snow, sacrificed on the table of a feast or almost suspended between worlds, as in a dialogue with Teller's mother's partner. Zimmermann is also a book about a childhood and youth in Germany." (from the publisher) Steidl, Göttingen. 2009. First edition, first printing. Hardback with slipcase. 245 x 305 mm. 52 pages. Photos: Juergen Teller. Design: Peter Miles, Juergen Teller. Text in English. Condition: Book inside and outside new, mint, unread. Slipcase partly sunned; no other defects. Still originally shrink-wrapped in publisher's plastic foil. Overall fine condition. Great Juergen Teller title - with the original slipcase.
