Insta: vandenboog_art Henk van den Boogaard works as a painter with oil paint and/or acrylic on canvas or panel. He paints thematic series, such as landscapes and cityscapes, but especially in recent years abstract seascapes for which he gained inspiration during his many sailing trips from the North Sea to the Mediterranean. The mystical atmosphere of the North Sea, the south coast of England, the Channel Islands and the Channel itself and the Bay of Biscay are all sources of his inspiration. The many sailing trips via the Bay of Biscay to the Mediterranean Sea and the experience there are also valuable and complementary to a rich and adventurous life at sea that is depicted in his atmospheric creative works. He was born in 1950 and has a background in the graphic media industry and the art world. He attended the School for Graphic Arts in Utrecht, where he completed a course in Communication, Management and Media Design. He was owner of Almedeon, co-owner of PromArt Gallery and publisher of frameless art reproductions (Art prints) in a self-developed technique. He learned the technique of painting as an autodidact, under the influence of many artists with whom he was in contact. Initially he took lessons with Toon Merkelbach in Oisterwijk and his uncle Henry van den Boogaard (USA), later with Jo Dumon Tak in Middelburg. His style developed from figurative/realistic to impressionistic and from 2020 to abstract. His paintings can be found in private collections in the Netherlands, Germany, Portugal and Italy. -2022 / Summer exhibition under the theme 'The Zeeland Light' in Domburg, together with Hans Versfelt, Jo Dumon Tak and Wim van de Wege.
