Domaine Trapet needs no introduction. It was one of the first Burgundy vineyards to adopt biodynamic viticulture, back in 1998. The estate's Grand Cru Chambertin has a very long ageing potential and is made from 3 parcels, the oldest of which was planted in 1919. Chambertin as a whole covers less than 2 hectares at the estate. Production is minimal, and the vintage is sold out. The 2019 vintage is a one of the best produced at the estate, with a balance between strength and depth, volume and fine, ripe tannins. The aromas are complex, with morello cherry jam, hints of smoked meat, dried roses and strawberries, sandalwood, bramble and a liquorice and spicy finish on the palate. The wine is full-bodied with freshness, characteristic of a blessed vintage in Burgundy : an iron hand in a velvet glove. Drink between 2029 and 2050, kept in good storage conditions.
