Original Persian Kulah-Khud helmet with presumable gold and silver inlays from the Qajar period (1789 – 1925). The helmet is hand-hammered of one piece solid steel. The interior show hammer marks, while the exterior surface is smooth. The helmet is adorned with an elongated pyramidal top spike. It holds a curved nasal spike on front and two plum holders a side. The entire surface of the skull is finely hand-chiseled and hand-engraved showing several figures, floral ornaments and a broad band of calligraphy to the base. Thick, presumable gold and silver (not tested) inlays decorate the helmet over its entire hemisphere. It was commonly done at the time to decorate Kulah Khud helmets with gold and silver inlays. Please note that all shown presumable gold and silver (not tested) details are not just painted on top of the helmet but are solid gold and silver inlays hammered into previously hand-engraved small channel lines into the helmet, spike, nasal spike and plum holders. The helmet has its original, very well preserved chain mail, falling in six points. The helmet has an inner circumference of ca 60 cm. It has a height from the top of the central spike to the lowest end of the chain mail of ca 53 cm and to the end of the helmet skull (without chain mail) of ca 25 cm. Overall, the here offered Kulah Khud is a very complete and impressive helmet. Disclaimer I want to clarify that this here shown and offered Kulah-Khud helmet is 100% authentic and original dating back to the Qajar period (1789 – 1925). The helmet is not repaired nor supplemented. All helmet components are original. The helmet will be perfectly packed and fixated in an oversize parcel to ensure a secure transport.
