Roman bronze wire-wrapped Lunula amulet. The amulet is wire-wrapped and strung as a pendant on a modern leather jewellery cord with clasp.

Condition: fair condition with visible signs of wear consistent with age and use. The amulet is strung on a modern jewellery cord with wire-wrapping to make it wearable as a pendant. See images.
A crescent (Lunula) was a popular symbol in many ancient cultures. It is associated with Artemis/Diana as a symbol of virginity and female chastity.
The wire wrapping technique dates back from ca. 2000 BC and was a favourite technique of jewellery makers of ancient civilizations.
