Seljuk Pair of Glazed Pottery Oil Lamps Circa 12th-13th century AD This nice pair features two pottery oil lamps, each of a biconical-shaped oil compartment with a wide opening and a protruding spout. D-shaped handle at the back with projecting thumb rest. One lamp is covered with a cream glaze with splashes of brown, green and blue and the other is entirely brown glazed. The Seljuks, a medieval Turkic dynasty, played a significant role in shaping the history of the Islamic world. Emerging in the 11th century AD, the Seljuks originated from the steppes of Central Asia.
