This book was originally published in 1866 and is one of the important 19th century books on the source of the Nile River. Baker served as the Governor-General of the Equatorial Nile Basin (today's South Sudan and Northern Uganda) between 1869 and 1873, which he established as the Province of Equatoria. He is mostly remembered as the discoverer of Lake Albert, as an explorer of the Nile and interior of central Africa, and for his exploits as a big game hunter in Asia, Africa, Europe and North America. 8vo, 2.0 lbs. Macmillan, 1874.
