Medieval Crusaders Era, silver Latin cross pendant with integral suspension loop. The front is decorated with linear decorations on the ends and a circle-dot in the centre. The cross pendant is strung on a modern leather jewellery cord with clasp. Total length: ± 48 cm Height: ± 28,6 mm (including suspension loop) Width: ± 17,6 mm Condition: good solid condition and wearable (new jewellery cord). Signs of wear consistent with age and use. See images. The Latin cross, also known as Roman cross represents the cross of Jesus's crucifixion. It was also called crux immissa in Latin. The top of the upright shaft extends above the transverse beam. The traditional plan for medieval churches was the Latin cross plan whereby the longer arm of the cross forms the nave of the church. During the Middle Ages this plan was considered a symbolic reference to the cross of Christ.
