Vellum, parchment binding with damaged lower part of the spine. Interior in good condition, with stamp of Geloof Wetenschap Amsterdam (Alfa and Omega signs) on titlepage.
Study on the rights and duties of the nobility by Antonius Matthaeus (1635-1710), the third generation from a family of important lawyers. He was professor of law at the universities of Utrecht and Leiden Mattheus distinguished himself, among other things, also through his regional history work. This is an extensive work on the nobility and its functions in general, starting historically with the Romans; and the nobility of Holland and the diocese of Leiden in particular. The illustrations show coats of arms and seals. Also a plate depicting officials and militia of the city of Utrecht with the banner, coat of arms and illustration of the seals.
