Conditie: veel bruining. De transparanten voor de platen zijn zeer gebruind en verwijderd, soms minimaal zichtbaar. Frontispiece deel 1 = kaart van Yucatan, redelijk-goed, vouwlijnen niet meer helemaal netjes en randen vertonen vouwen. Frontispiece deel 2 beschadigd, er ontbreekt een groot deel.
Platten geschaafd, bindwerk goed, scharnieren goed. Zie ook alle foto's.

His popular accounts are accompanied by engravings after watercolors made by his traveling companion, the English artist Frederick Catherwood, whose Views of Ancient Monuments in Central America, Chiapas, and Yucatan (New York, 1844) remains a landmark of architectural illustration (source: NY MET).
