Gunnel Sahlin, born in 1954 in Umeå, Västerbotten, is a Swedish glass artist and art professor. Sahlin studied sewing and weaving in Umeå before, in the years 1979–1983, she trained as a textile artist at Konstfack in Stockholm. In the years 1984–1986, she worked for Katja of Sweden, and then joined the glassworks group Kosta Boda. From 1990 she worked as a glass designer at the Åfors glass factory, where she composed tableware inspired by plants, fruits and music, such as Frutteria (1989). From 2006, Sahlin worked as a freelancer, including for Ikea.[1] In parallel with the design, Sahlin was a professor at Konstfack in the years 1999–2004 with a focus on glass. Sahlin has received several awards, including Excellent Swedish Form, and is represented at the National Museum[2] in Stockholm. Item will be double-packed and shipped with insurance.
