Indus Valley Pottery Jar

Crafted from light-coloured terracotta, this jar exhibits a large bulbous body, a rounded base, a broad shoulder adorned with remnants of the original decoration, and an everted rim.
Ceramic vessels such as this pottery jar held multifaceted roles in the Indus Valley civilization. Serving both utilitarian and symbolic purposes, these vessels were integral to daily life. They functioned as containers for storage, transportation, and preparation of food and liquids.
