The most well-known flag is the one with 16 rays of light opening at 22.5 degrees (the sixteen-striped rising sun flag). There are other flags with a variety of rays, such as 4, 8, 12, and 24 stripes. Since ancient times, it has been a traditional Japanese flag and a symbol of good luck, signifying Hare (a festival). After the Meiji Restoration, the flag was also used as a military flag. In World War II, both the army and navy fought under the flag of the Rising Sun. Please see the last photo.
