Ryan McGinley - Everybody knows this is nowhere - 2010

The first edition from 2010 published on the occasion of an exhibition at Team Gallery New York March 18 - April 17, 2010. A series of black-and-white nude portraits, each exploring the intimacy and energy of youth. Original uncommon first edition Soft/hardcover in jacket (in edition of 2000 copies). Beautiful black and white portrait plates throughout. And a conversation between Ryan Mcginley and Cathrine Opie. The New York based Ryan McGinley did not photograph models or people with particular studio experience. He chose young people with attitude and a sense of performance. He took thousands of pictures of each subject, then spent two years editing to find the defining shot. And stripped away all external distractions, shooting in his studio in black and white. Ryan McGinley is one of America's leading photographers. Starting his career as a photo editor for Vice magazine, Ryan was also photographing friends like Dash Snow and Dan Coren. Ryan was a photographer who portrayed the so-called underground street culture, with drugs and sex. It has transformed my style into pure and clean photographic creations.
