Edad del Bronce Europea Bronce Colgante en forma de anillo con tallo acanalado (Sin Precio de Reserva)

A beautiful bronze ring-shaped pendant, dating to the European Bronze Age. The main feature is an asymmetric ring shape with thicker right-hand side. The ribbed stem, topped by a rounded suspension loop, has wider grooves than similar pieces, and the raised ribs between are subsequently thinner and extend just over the neck. Both the stem and the ring are gently convex. The back of the pendant is flat and unworked. A lovely smooth patina covers the surface providing a cool green tone to the metal. Around the stem and on the reverse there are some slightly rougher, more vibrant patches of oxidation. European Bronze Age farmers differed from their stone-cutting predecessors – they used horses and chariots to work; kept flocks of sheep for woollen clothing; and used bronze as a standard commodity of exchange. Technological development was rapid; the manufacture of tools and weapons increased; and specialised equipment emerged for shaving, woodworking, and metalworking. At the same time, advancements in decorative arts were also gaining momentum. Crafters of jewellery, accessories, and other personal adornments utilised the versitility of bronze to explore new styles and forms. Measurements: Circa L 7.3cm x W 5.4cm x D 0.3cm Provenance: Ex JL private collection, Surrey, UK
