Human Spring Lieko Shiga Tokyo Metropolitan Museum of Photography/2019/Japanese/183*260*13 Japanese female photographer Rieko Shiga, born in 1980, is an internationally acclaimed photographer who left Tokyo Polytechnic University in 2000 to study photography in the UK, graduating from Chelsea College of Art and Design, London College of Art in 2004. He won the 33rd Ihei Kimura Photography Award for his two photo books "CANARY" and "Lilly" published in 2007. He later won the ICP Infinity Award for New Photographers in 2009 and the 28th Higashikawa Award for New Artists in 2012. He has participated in exhibitions in Japan and abroad, and in the spring of 2019, the Tokyo Metropolitan Museum of Photography will hold the exhibition "Human Spring," featuring his new work. This book is the catalogue of that "Human Spring" exhibition. Shiga's text reads, "He was spring itself." The left page of the illustrated pages of this book consists of a photograph of a man with his face painted red, while a different work unfolds on the right page. The dynamism of the exhibition hall, composed of installations, was incorporated into the bold layout by Daishiro Mori.
