selyúcida islámica Hierro Cabeza del hacha (Sin Precio de Reserva)

An Islamic Seljuk axehead featuring a cylindrical shaft-hole terminating in with a pointed tab protruding from the bottom end and a mid-rid before the tab. The fan-shaped blade flares out from a thin neck towards the sharpened convex edge. There is patination over the surface, and a few minor flakes over the axehead as consistent with its age. The Seljuks Empire was a Persio-Turkish nation founded in the 11th century AD. The Empire originated from the Oghuz Turks, made up of 24 tribes, and specifically from the Kinik branch. They originally lived in the Kazakh Steppe of Turkestan but in the 10th century they migrated south stretching their power over the main part of the middle east. The name of the Empire stems from the founding warlord, known as Seljuk Beg, who led his tribe into the new territory. Measurements: approximately L 16.6cm x H 12.2cm Provenance: Ex Japanese private collection, formed 1970-2010.
