Silk-screen from the suite 'Frammenti Veneziani', which consists of a total of 5 silkscreens by James Lee Byars and 5 by Joseph Beuys, rendered in silver on black Fabriano cardboard. Signed and numbered on the back. This silkscreen by James Lee Byars bears the number 37/50, the signature, with integrated numbering, is very spectacular (see photo 2).
Difficult to photograph, but in perfect condition.
James Lee Byars (Detroit, 10 April 1932 - Cairo, 23 May 1997) was an American sculptor and performance artist.
Byars studied art, psychology and philosophy in his birthplace. In the late 1950s he moved to Kioto in Japan. In the 1970s he gained particular recognition in Europe for his performances, objects, sculptures and installations.
In 1974 he was a guest at the studio of the Deutsche Akademische Austausch Dienst (DAAD) in Berlin, where he conceived the Golden Tower (Golden Tower) which he exhibited in different versions and at several locations, such as at documenta 7 (1982) in Kassel. Other documentas in which he participated were documenta 5 (in 1972) and documenta 8 (in 1987).
In 1994 he received the first Wolfgang-Hahn-Preis as Magier der Stille. The Museum Ludwig in Cologne donated to him for that The Perfect Smile, which is considered the first immaterial artwork in a museum.
