Red cloth binding with printed textured boards and a title label on the front board. First edition of this illustrated collection of fairy tales about Huang Li. Beautifully illustrated throughout with colour lithographs by Fürstin Marie Thurn-Taxis-Hohenlohe.
Rubbing, bumping, and wear to the boards and spine. The spine is fraying at the bottom, and the front hinge is broken and more than half of the pages are fully loose. The top edge of the label on the front board is peeling off a bit, and the printed boards are peeling off at the edges a bit as well. Some water staining on the top right edge of the pastedown endpaper. Pen inscription on the front free endpaper. The text is clear, and the illustrations are vibrant. Overall, a copy in fair- condition.
