Art Deco glazed ceramic sculpture depicting a panther. Germany, ca 1900 Volkstedt, Germany, with mark on the bottom of the base, The first porcelain factory established in Sitzendorf was founded in 1760 by Georg Heinrich Macheleidt, under the protection of the prince of Schwarzburg-Rudolstadt, although in 1762 the manufacture was transferred to Volkstedt by order of the prince. In 1850 a new factory was opened, which began to stand out for its quality in 1884, when Alfred and Carl Wilhelm Voigt took over the management. It then began to manufacture parts in the Dresden style, with such success that by 1909 the factory was equipped with innovative steam-powered machinery.
