One vintages to be held back in Krug’s cellars after the original release, this champagne is powerful, elegant and distinctive. Krug Collection bottles are regularly tasted and appraised by Krug Cellar Master, Julie Cavil, until deemed to have blossomed into an outstanding new facet of this Champagne. Krug Vintage will then receive its cork and become Krug Collection. Each collection bottle is individually numbered. Krug Collection 1989 is part of the House of Krug’s unique trilogy of three exceptional years (1988, 1989, 1990) with completely different climates that resulted in Champagnes that are unique. Weather: The weather conditions in 1989 were good; mild weather throughout much of spring with spells of frost damaging some vineyards. However, during the beginning of the summer months the weather improved and sunny days fostered good growing conditions. The harvest began early in the first and second week of September and the harvest was a good size. Wines from 1989 generally have incredible ageing potential. Deep palate with bright, high youthful tones of pear, green apple, citrus fruits, marmalade, fresh figs and even a touch of earth with a finish which goes on and on with undertones of mineral and spices.
