Suzanis are very delicate and few examples survive from the late 18th and early 19th centuries. Koksal Atay is a fashion designer based in Istanbul.Atay prefers to use oversize cuts in his designs allowing for a sculpture-like effect with his monochrome pallette, the details are hidden in an artistic manner. He says: "My clothes are for everyone who likes comfort and convenience; follows natural lines and prefers creative expansions. I see myself in a unisex style as the elements that impose gender on designs are the people who wear them, I don't use feminine or masculine elements in clothes as determining factors. I am against fast fashion, my clothes are long-lasting, timeless and can be worn for years.I prefer to use living materials such as cotton, wool, silk and hand made embroidery cultural garments such as Suzani, Ehram.
