Eric William CHALLIS (1920-2011). An English artist working around the River Thames Estuary near LONDON  Active in the late 1970's. He liked painting city industrial cityscape scenes in and around London.

EXHIBITED Southend Essex Municipal Museums and Galleries.

WATERCOLOUR in a light wood and gilt frame in good condition signed CHALLIS in bottom right with artist stamp on the back.

SUBJECT A striking and atmospheric painting of the inside of a forge workshop \ blacksmiths. It shows two skilled blacksmiths hard at work - forging metal - one at the furnace and the other working heated metal on a nearby anvil.
