Bronze tripod incense burner (censer), commonly known as a “ding-type” from the mid 20th century, most likely. Cast bronze censer of rounded globular form, raised on three sculptural elephant-head feet with curved trunks. The body is densely decorated in high relief with scrolling floral and foliate motifs. Two openwork handles flank the sides, surmounted by small stylised caps. The vessel is fitted with a removable domed cover decorated with similar floral scrollwork and topped with a cylindrical finial. Surface with attractive natural patina, showing areas of dark brown oxidation and green verdigris consistent with age.
