Maurizio Valch (1972) - XXL - Silent Horizontal Structure — Incised Territory

The piece is in excellent condition, with no damage or restorations. Dimensions: 120 x 80 cm (full image). The artwork is shipped unframed and unstretched, carefully rolled inside a protective tube to ensure safe delivery. A contemporary abstract acrylic painting where a horizontal territory unfolds through layered blue fields, creating a sense of depth, continuity and quiet tension. The composition is structured through subtle variations in tone and gently shifting planes. Fine incised lines traverse the surface, acting as internal divisions that organize the space without fragmenting it. These lines guide the eye across the composition, suggesting movement and transition within a stable and continuous field. Small geometric forms appear distributed along the horizontal layers as points of presence. Their placement introduces rhythm and scale, reinforcing the architectural nature of the painting and marking moments of emergence within the territory. A red lower band anchors the composition, establishing a visual base that contrasts with the surrounding blue field. This chromatic tension enhances the perception of balance between stability and movement. This contemporary abstract painting emphasizes structure, silence and spatial clarity over gesture. The work operates as a constructed field, inviting slow observation where space is perceived as an organized and contemplative territory. About the artist Maurizio Valch is a visual artist, writer and graphic designer, trained in Graphic Design and Fine Arts. He lived in Miami (USA) until 2013, where he ran his own studio, and later in Barcelona (Spain), where he participated in exhibitions at the Royal Artistic Circle. In 2017 he presented a work at the Gran Teatre del Liceu. He has also collaborated with MACBA. His work explores the genesis of metaphysical territories — pictorial spaces where geological landscape and human consciousness begin to intersect. Using a visual language inspired by geology, horizon lines and tectonic formations, Valch constructs territories where the emergence of individual awareness appears to arise from the earth itself. Within these landscapes, symbolic elements such as stairways, monolithic forms and architectural traces act as markers of perception, transition and genesis. Rather than depicting historical narratives or social structures, his paintings focus on a primordial moment: the appearance of individual consciousness within the territory. Many of his works are accompanied by original poetic texts written by the artist. TikTok: @maurizio_valch Facebook: MaurizioValch X (Twitter): @MauriValch Instagram: @mauriziovalch mauriziovalch.com
