Labelled Grant W. Bliss - 4/4 - - Violin - Unknown

An interesting old American 4/4 violin, made and labeled: Grant W. Bliss, Syracuse N.Y., Faciebat Anno 1916. The instrument is ready to play and is in good condition, with some signs of use and wear, but without cracks. The violin has an excellent, straight-grained, fine spruce top as well as a one-piece back of gently flamed maple, with matching ribs and scroll featuring black stripes. The purfling is professionally executed, and the edges are masterfully worked. The original oil varnish in a golden amber shade remains in good condition. The total length of the violin is 590 mm, the back length 354 mm. Width of the upper bouts: 165 mm; middle bouts: 110 mm; lower bouts: 212 mm. The sound of this instrument is of enchanting character – rich, warm, sweet, colorful, with depth and great carrying power. We are a virtual and accessible auction house dedicated to fine-stringed instruments, bows, and accessories. We bring collectors, musicians, and enthusiasts together from around the globe to explore a curated selection of exceptional instruments. There are valuation certificates from our company available for extra charge Violins and bows described as 'certified' or 'attributed' include images of their certificates and are therefore considered to have a higher degree of documented certainty regarding maker, origin, and age than instruments described only as 'labelled' (violins) or 'stamped' (bows), for which we provide no guarantee of any kind
