JRR Tolkien - The Two Towers: RARE first edition, 7th impression - 1960

Hello Up for auction is this VERY RARE, AND VERY EARLY first edition, 7th impression of The Two Towers. This book is the second book in the Lord of The Rings trilogy, and was first published in 1954. According to Tolkienbooks.net, the 7th impression had a tiny print run of just 4,000 copies, and so it can be regarded as being incredibly scarce, with significantly fewer surviving to this day. Prior to the 7th impression, the total print run of the first six impressions of this title only comes to just 19,800, meaning this book is one of the first 23,000 copies ever printed. (How many millions of times has it been printed since, I wonder?) The book is jacketless, and without a map, but otherwise, I would say this is in VERY GOOD condition indeed, with exceptionally bright, white and clean inner pages. There is absolutely no foxing or spotting of any kind. There are only two very small annotations to the synopsis pages at the front, from a clearly knowledgable reader. (See pics). There is also just a small owners name on the front endpaper. The boards are on generally good condition; just some bumping to the bottom right corner, which gives a small ripple to the early inner pages, but apart from this, it is an extremely well preserved copy. Just a touch of forward spine lean. Early impressions are INCREDIBLY RARE to find, so this would be a great chance to add this excellent condition book to your collection… Thanks for looking.
