Thomas Geminus after Vesalius - Nona musculorum tabula - 1550

Beautiful 16th century anatomical engraving after Vesalius Thomas Geminus (attributed), " Decima quarta musculorum tabula", ca. 1550. Rare and authentic 16th-century anatomical engraving after the groundbreaking work of Andreas Vesalius (De humani corporis fabrica, 1543). This print shows a muscle figure (écorché) viewed from the back, with detailed anatomical rendering. The Latin title engraved in the plate reads: “Decima quarta musculorum tabula” (Fourteenth plate of the muscles). The paper has a visible watermark showing a hand with a star, used around 1550. Executed as a fine copper engraving (made after Vesalius' woodcut), in the tradition of Thomas Geminus, who reinterpreted Vesalius’ illustrations in engraved form in the mid-16th century. Dimensions: 33,3 x 18,6 cm (engraving), 36 x 22,2 cm (paper). Good condition, tear in lower right corner restored, lower white margin short and enlarged with old paper.
