Fluffy Ruffles - Buster Brown - 11 新聞のページと連載漫画 - 1907

Rare surviving episodes from various Sunday Comics sections, featuring episodes of Fluffy Ruffles by Wallace Morgan and Buster Brown by R.F. Outcalt on the back. Published in 1907. 11 pages Fluffy Ruffles was a comic strip in the New York Herald (from roughly 1906-1909) written in verse by Carolyn Wells and drawn by Wallace Morgan. The conceit of the comic was that Fluffy Ruffles couldn't hold a job because she was a distraction to the men around her. But she always retained her dignity, and dressed impeccably. Women of the era imitated her dress, and the newspaper held contests around the country to find women who personified Fluffy Ruffles. Macy's carried a line of clothing in her name (shirtwaist, fitted jacket, large plumed hat and a parasol). There was a Broadway musical, sheet music and even candy named after her. Buster Brown is a comic strip character created in 1902 by Richard F. Outcault that was adopted as the mascot of the Brown Shoe Company in 1904. The characters of Buster Brown, Mary Jane, and his dog Tige became well known to the American public in the early 20th century. The Buster Brown suit reflected his outfit and became very popular for young boys. The character of Buster Brown may have been loosely based on Granville Hamilton Fisher, a son of Charles and Anna Fisher of Flushing, New York. Outcault copied Fisher's physical appearance for his comic strip. The name "Buster" came from the popularity of Buster Keaton, then a child actor in vaudeville. Roger Cushman Clark (1899–1995) of Deadwood, South Dakota was also described as the "original model" for the Buster Brown character. The pages are in good condition, although wrinkles, tears, flaking and missing pieces may occur. The lots in this auction can be shipped combined. This is taken into account up to a weight of 5 kg. If packages need to be split due to weight, an additional charge will apply. In this case, we will contact you. Will be shipped with track&trace. #specialcollectionservice
