Turn-Teplitz - Ernst Whaliss (attr.) - Vase - Terracotta

Early 20th Century Art Nouveau / Liberty Figural Glazed Ceramic Vase, Attributed to Ernst Wahliss / Turn-Teplitz Elegant and highly decorative early 20th-century Art Nouveau / Liberty figural vase, attributed to Ernst Wahliss / Turn-Teplitz, made in polychrome glazed ceramic or terracotta. The vase has a striking sculptural form, with a tall sinuous body, a wide flared organic rim, a side handle, and flowing botanical decoration typical of the Art Nouveau period. The front is adorned with a graceful draped female figure in relief, beautifully integrated into the body of the vase and surrounded by stylized leaves and naturalistic forms. The surface is finished in rich earthy tones of green, ochre, beige, yellow, and blue-grey, with an attractive aged patina that enhances its antique character and decorative presence. The back bears the incised number III7, most likely a model or mold number. The base is not visibly marked, but shows traces of an old paper label, now illegible. Ernst Wahliss pieces were generally marked on the underside of the base with factory marks such as EW, Turn Wien / Turn Vienna, Wien, Austria, Made in Austria, or crown-related marks. No such factory mark is clearly visible on this piece, therefore the attribution is based on style, period, form, and comparison with Art Nouveau figural ceramics from the Turn-Teplitz area. A beautiful statement piece for collectors of Art Nouveau ceramics, antique decorative arts, period interiors, or refined eclectic décor.
