A Tlatilco Terracotta Anthropomorphic Head, Central Mexico, 12th to 6th Century BC. Finely hand-modelled terracotta head in the characteristic Tlatilco style, featuring a broad face with expressive slit eyes, prominent nose, and incised mouth. The figure wears an elaborate headdress with geometric and linear incised decoration and remains of red pigment. The back shows the typical flattened form with a small perforation for suspension. These small heads are iconic of the Preclassic period in Central Mexico and are believed to represent fertility figures, deities or ancestral spirits. Height: 5.7 cm. Width: 3.4 cm. Depth: 2.2 cm.
