A RARE chinese rectangular incised “lotus” DUAN inkstone and box (Huang-huali). The rectangular ink stone is carved with a lotus on the troughed inkwell, the reverse is carved with poetic inscription, followed by a signature of “shui zhu cun ren-水竹邨人”. The inkstone from Xu SHICHANG, the SECOND President of the Republic of China. The wooden box and cover possible is Huang Huali. Xu Shichang (Chinese: 徐世昌; courtesy name (号): shui zhu cun ren-水竹邨人, Juren - 菊人, 20 October 1855 - 5 June 1939) was a Chinese politician who served as the President of China from 10 October 1918 to 2 June 1922. In 1918, Xu Shichang was elected as the second President of the Republic of China with the support of the Anfu Parliament controlled by Duan Qirui. A member of the Anhui clique, he was the only permanent president of the Beiyang government to be a civilian; his presidency was also the longest of the Warlord Era. La pierre à encre rectangulaire est sculptée d’un lotus dans le réservoir creusé ; le revers est gravé d’une inscription poétique, suivie de la signature « shui zhu cun ren - 水竹邨人 ». La pierre à encre provient de Xu Shichang, le DEUXIÈME président de la République de Chine. La boîte et le couvercle en bois seraient possiblement en Huang Huali.
