Pre‑Columbian Pottery Whistle Figure - Ecuador, Manteño‑Huancavilca culture.
A compact Manteño pottery whistle figure, hand‑modelled in fine earthenware and depicting a stylised standing human with the characteristic broad facial planes and schematic limbs typical of the coastal Ecuadorian tradition.
The figure shows bent arms held close to the torso, with an enlarged head and incised facial detailing.
The reverse contains the whistle chamber and mouth aperture, a hallmark of Manteño ritual sound‑making objects used in ceremonial, shamanic, and communal contexts.
Minor surface wear and small losses consistent with age and burial.
Whistle still working.
Time period: Ca. 800 - 1200 AD
Dimensions: 9 cm high
Provenance: purchased at a German auction - with German export license
