(スペイン・クラシック) 希少メラナイト エストレマドゥーラ州出身 - Height: 15.5 cm - Width: 9.2 cm- 965 g - (1)

An amazing specimen from an extremely uncommon locality in the modern market. The Burguillos del Cerro skarn system was worked during the dictatorship the country went through when national mines were subsidized. These mines were developed along magnetite lenses formed by the infiltration and action of magmatic fluids on marble during the intrusion of plutonic bodies in the region, creating the perfect environment for the crystallization of other rare minerals rich in light rare earths and uranium and also calcic garnets in the andradite family including demantoid and melanite. In this case, this specimen features a fairly large cavity coated by jet black melanite and weirdly shaped feldspar crystals. The melanite displays a level of quality comparable to examples from Mexico and Mali with excellent sharpness and luster, but unlike material from anywhere else this stuff rarely ever shows up even in Spanish collections.
