スツール - Wood, Suede, Wrought iron - ヴィクトリア朝のピアノ椅子

Antique Victorian Adjustable Piano Stool, England, c. 1900 A handsome antique piano stool, likely English and dating to the late Victorian period, around 1900. Originally designed as an adjustable music or recital stool, it combines practical engineering with the dark, polished charm of turn-of-the-century furniture. The stool has a dark-stained wooden frame with a deep colour and nice woodcarvings, beautifully set off by the more recent suede upholstery. The square cushion is finished with (more recent) brass nailhead trim. What makes this stool appealing is its mechanical height adjustment. The cushion rises and lowers by means of the pair of round side knobs, allowing the sitter to find the right playing height. The mechanism offers approximately 6 cm / 2.4 inches of adjustment. The base is finely made, standing on four turned legs united by an elegant H-stretcher. The turned details have a beautiful rhythm, with ringed and baluster-shaped sections catching the light. The legs curve slightly outward near the feet, giving the piece a poised, graceful stance. An antique piano stool with strong Victorian appeal, decorative enough to stand alone and still perfectly practical. It would work beautifully beside a piano, in a hallway, bedroom or as a small character seat in an eclectic interior. The stool is structurally solid and very heavy. The mechanism is made of solid wrought iron. Dimensions Height: approx. 50 cm, adjustable by approx. 6 cm / approx. 19.7 inches, adjustable by approx. 2.4 inches Width: 53 cm including knobs / 20.9 inches Depth: 36 cm / 14.2 inches
