Wittmann Austria - Josef Hoffmann, Koloman Moser - アームチェア - プルケルスドルフ - Beech
The Purkersdorf armchair was originally designed for Klimt's solo exhibition at the 1903 Vienna Secession, and later placed in the entrance hall of the Purkersdorf Sanatorium — Josef Hoffmann's landmark building and a defining moment for Viennese Modernism.
The cubic frame with vertical white-lacquered slats and woven checkerboard seat is as radical and considered today as it was then. Wittmann added the chair to their production range in 1973 and later secured exclusive rights to manufacture Hoffmann's furniture from his original designs. This example carries the original Wittmann label and the original cushion.
The structure is in good condition with some paint cracking at the seams and some colouring to the seat, as visible in the photos. A piece with genuine lineage — please refer to images for a full sense of condition. A truly rare find to come by!
