Lucite Sea Life Table Lamp with Pointed Shade A wonderfully eccentric vintage table lamp in lucite, with an exuberant sea life theme. The base is cast with shells, seahorses, coral-like elements, a small starfish, a crab and other marine details suspended inside the resin, creating the effect of a little underwater cabinet of curiosities. The colours are especially attractive: warm amber orange, clear honey tones, deep green and blue-green sections running through the lucite. One side is a flat cross-section, while the other side is rounded, organic and sculptural. This gives the lamp a different character from each angle: from one side it reads almost like a slice of tropical seabed, from another more like a glowing abstract rock formation. We have added a pointed white lampshade, which suits the lamp’s playful character beautifully. The shade gives the piece an extra touch of theatre and makes the whole object feel even more charmingly odd, in the best vintage way. Lit from above, the lucite catches the warmth of the bulb and becomes richer and more atmospheric, with the sea life details appearing almost suspended in amber. This is a decorative and highly individual lamp: part lighting object, part seaside souvenir fantasy, part funky 1960s/1970s interior sculpture.
