Zenith - AutoSport - 2562PC - Men - 1970-1979

Up for auction is a beautiful and highly collectible vintage Zenith AutoSport Automatic from 1971. This timepiece features a distinctive gold-filled tonneau (cushion-shaped) case and houses a prestigious, high-grade in-house Zenith caliber.A fascinating aspect of this watch is its historical background. The stainless steel caseback features an official German corporate jubilee engraving: "A. Mitkes - Für 25 jährige treue Dienste - Kraftwerk Wöhrden - 24.10.1971" (Presented to A. Mitkes for 25 years of loyal service at the Wöhrden Power Plant on October 24, 1971).Technical Specifications:Brand: ZenithModel: AutoSport AutomaticMovement: In-house Zenith Caliber 2562PC, Automatic, "Hi-Beat" (28,800 bph), 23 Jewels.Case Material: 20 Microns Gold-Filled Bezel / Upper Case (marked inside the caseback) with a solid Stainless Steel back.Dial: Beautiful original sunburst gold dial with applied hour markers and a unique date window located between 4 and 5 o'clock.Strap: Aftermarket brown leather strap (Non-original).Case Dimensions: approx. 36 mm (excluding crown)Condition Report & Technical Notes (Please read carefully before bidding):Accessories: The watch is sold WITHOUT the original box and WITHOUT papers. The auction includes strictly the watch itself, exactly as shown in the photographs.Cosmetic Condition: Very good vintage condition. The 20-micron gold plating is thick and well-preserved, showing only minor surface scratches and light wear consistent with its age. The original dial and hands are in crisp, clean condition. The stainless steel back has some tool marks from opening but the engraving remains perfectly crisp and legible.Movement & Date Complication (CRITICAL NOTE): The automatic movement is fully functional, winds up, ticks, and runs when shaken. However, the date complication does not transition correctly at midnight. The calendar wheel frequently gets stuck half-way between two dates (for example, hanging between the 23rd and 24th).Service Recommendation: Due to this specific date alignment issue and its unknown service history, this watch is sold with a strict recommendation for a professional movement service/repair.Please study the high-resolution photographs carefully, including the open movement shot, as they represent the definitive description of the watch. Sold "as is" for restoration or collection.
