A fine antique Japanese cast iron tetsubin (iron kettle) attributed to the prestigious Ryubundo (龍文堂) foundry, one of the most celebrated makers of Japanese iron teaware.
Body:
The tetsubin features an elegant lobed form (kikugata) with a richly textured surface decorated with a continuous relief landscape scene depicting mountains, trees, and traditional architecture. The casting quality is exceptionally fine, consistent with Ryubundo craftsmanship.
Lid:
The original brass lid bears an engraved signature inscription and is fitted with a beautifully crafted silver lotus finial — a hallmark of high-quality Ryubundo pieces.
Handle:
Original iron bail handle in good condition showing appropriate age patina.
Interior:
The interior shows a clover-shaped casting mark on the base, consistent with authentic Ryubundo pieces. Some natural oxidation present, consistent with age.

Intact iron spout in good condition.
