Only in April did the weather finally take on a spring-like character. May was a rather variable month, while June started with cold temperatures and then became very warm. Drought and a scorching heat persisted during July, but in August temperatures dropped due to the arrival of cold northern Atlantic currents, then returned to normal toward the end of the month. The first autumn rain was recorded in mid-September, followed by further rainfall, which fortunately did not cause any damage to the 2006 Barolo Cerequio grapes as the soil absorbed the water.”
